Nouveauté Netflix

Première saison d’une série assez intrigante, qui nous questionne. Les protagonistes ne font finalement pas grand chose mais passent beaucoup de temps à réfléchir. Ça change de ce que l’on voit habituellement mais on ne s’ennuie pas.

La série raconte la vie quotidienne de lycéens que l’on devine anglais par leur accent, la conduite à gauche mais, ici, rien n’est affirmé. Le lieu et l’époque n’ont pas d’importance. Les habits, les vélos, les disques vinyles d’Otis donnent l’impression d’être remontés dans le temps mais qu’est-ce qui ressemble plus à un adolescent des années 2010 qu’un adolescent des années soixante-dix. Leurs problèmes sont les mêmes. Leurs moyens de communication sont un peu différents mais les nouvelles technologies ne sont pas très présentes, dans Sex Education, surtout au début.

Ce qui fait une grande partie de l’intérêt que l’on peut porter à cette série c’est que les personnages sont très attachants. On les aime. Comme dans la plupart des fictions qui se déroulent au lycée, on retrouve le grand costaud pas malin et un peu brute, le groupe de petites connes qu’on a envie de gifler. Mais quand ces personnages sont pris à part, ils nous montrent plus de profondeur et moins de manichéisme qu’on aurait pu le craindre.

Les acteurs sont aussi très très bons, à commencer par le jeune héros, Asa Buterfield, qui a bien grandi depuis Hugo Cabret et Gillian Anderson qui est géniale en mère un peu envahissante, croqueuse d’hommes. Elle était déjà étonnante et fascinante dans The Fall, il y a peu. Là, en plus, elle est drôle.

Cette série n’est bien sûr pas à mettre devant tous les yeux et dans toutes les oreilles, il est bien-sûr, comme son nom l’indique, beaucoup question de sexe. Certaines scènes sont un peu crues.

Pour finir, parlons musique. Comme souvent dans les très bonnes séries, la bande originale est vraiment bien. De la bonne musique anglaise, il semblerait, mais je ne suis pas un expert. La musique que l’on entend, quand les scènes se déroulent dans les couloirs du lycée, fait penser à celle d’un jeu Wii.
